Re: Lake Michigan - Intro to Sea Kayaking with Kayak Chicago

Your welcome, hope to see you at other events. I figure we still have another 3-4 good months of kayaking before the season is officially over.

Busse Woods/Salt Creek Paddling Trip Sunday Aug 19, 2007

This was my first trip with "Float Your Boat -Chicago Area Kayak Meetup" which I had just joined. It was pouring rain as I loaded my kayak onto the mini-van. I thought for sure that I would be the only paddler to show up for this event. As I arrived at the put-in, I was shocked to see...

Recent flooding causes boating restrictions on rivers.

In case anyone is heading out for a paddle over the next week or so, be sure to check with local authorities regarding the status of the river. Just last Sunday a group of us from Float Your Boat were called back to shore within a minute after taking off from the put-in. An Algonquin police office...

Kishwaukee River In Flood Stage - August 8, 2007

With all the rainfall earlier this month we got a little crazy and decided to hit the Kish when it was in flood stage. We started at Countyline Road and ended at Redhorse Bend in Belvidere. This was an eye opening experience as I had never witnessed a flood firsthand. The amount of damage we saw...

Float Your Boat kayaking club

Last weekend I was at Busse woods taking some pictures of Cormorants from the shore and I met a kayaker who was part of a new local kayaking group, Float Your Boat. Re: BP Increasing Pollution into Lake Michigan

Great News!!! Thanks to all the protests/emails/petitions BP has decided not to increase pollution into Lake Michigan.

I've heard there are other companies polluting even worse than what BP was expected to do (paper mills in chicago?), if anyone knows about this please post details
