5 kayaks and 1canoe, 5 adults and 4 kids, we did 2 days on the North Fork of the Flambeau River between Park Falls and Oxbo, WI back in July. This is a beautiful, mostly flat, river with just enough rocky Class 1 rapids to make the kids squeal a little. Starting at "Nine Mile", we paddled to "Oxbo" the first day where we'd already set up camp. This is the way to do it with kids along, no worries about wet gear, etc. The 2nd day was a little shorter, "Oxbo" to "County W". Virtually uneventful except for the deer we watched wading the shallows and all the laughter when I nearly dumped my "SOT" trying to get out on a muddy bank in 5 foot deep water. The only casualty was my fancy new "waterproof" video cap camera which turned out not so "waterproof". I'd go back there for a fun, relaxing float anytime. If you're more adventurous, the South Fork is rumored to be filled with whitewater but we didn't have time to look at it. Keep the keel down and the wind at your backs! Ernie
