Put in on the northeast corner of the bridge. This section of the river, Sheridan to Wedron, takes you through the scenic rock formations known as the Dells of the Fox.

Update from Dave W.:
Rt.52 access is a small bumpy narrow drive to the river very well hidden off of a private drive. Plenty of room under the bridge for boats, not so much for vehicles. No room for parking along Rt.52 - this is a very busy highway. Could be used as an emergency take out.

Shuh Shuh Gah Canoe Launch is part of Kendall Co. Forest Preserve and is well maintained. It has ample parking w/handicap access; sheltered picnic area; well water; paved walkways to river; concrete boat ramp; floating dock w/bench & ladder. The path to the river (ramp & dock) is a bit narrow; it may prove tedious to load or unload alot of boats; but the canoe launch is
well maintained and is easy to access by road.

Directions: From Silver Springs State Park [Yorkville,IL] take Fox River Rd. SW into Millbrook,IL; turn NW (Right) onto Whitfield Rd.; cross bridge; less than 1/4 mile turn E (right) on Rogers Rd. to Shuh Shuh Gah Canoe Launch entrance.

Not having done the lower "Dells Of The Fox" section yet, this is definitely my favorite section so far (having previously paddled Batavia to Aurora, and S. Elgin to St. Charles). Starting here and ending at Lois Landing in Millington is about a 11 mile trip. There are some fun riffles to paddle through and there is very little intrusion from civilization partly due to the fact that this stretch runs through Silver Springs State Park.

One of the riffles is at the site of an old mill where we paddled to the river left of the mill area. The other was just before the Bridge St bridge in Millington.

For architecture fans, Mies Van Der Rohe's glass house can be seen on river right just before the Fox River Rd. Bridge in Silver Springs State Park.

Put-in is located just west of Yorkville Dam and route 47 on Hyrdaulic St. A sign at the launch indicates the mileage to other take-outs including New Orleans!
