Put-in for a 8.2 mile trip to the Red Covered Bridge. For a preview of this creek, see the Big Bureau videos.

Touted by various experienced paddlers as one of the best paddles in IL.

Flow rates of 200-400 cfs are recommended by expert canoeist and instructor Tom Lindblade.

"This is a great paddle! There is a gravel area where this road crosses the river that the locals use for fishing & partying. The Red Covered Bridge put-in is nice though. It's also possible to portage out of Big Bureau at the siphon and paddle either direction on Hennepin Canal."

Just north of Tiskilwa, site of an old indian village, and a little over 1/2 mile downstream from the siphon where the Hennepin canal crosses the creek.
